My favourite season is finally commencing. I’m one of very few who would choose Autumn over Summer ALWAYS. Autumn fashion, Autumn colours, Halloween; it’s the most colourful, cosy season of them all. We’ve had the longest hottest summer and now it’s time to hang up the thigh skimming dresses, pack away the bikinis and set up my transitional wardrobe. YAY. Nothing makes me happier. This years Autumn trends I think are my favourite so far, and with fashion weeks in fall swing these are the trends I’ve spotted that i’m ready to fall in love with this season.
MODEST FASHION:
Modest Fashion, what I think has been the most unexpected trend this Autumn, however is definitely one of my favourites. Why was it unexpected? In my opinion because it’s always been seen as a way of dressing for religion and not as a personal style choice. In media we see women dress in near to nothing to promote feminism however forgetting that dressing modestly gives exactly the same sense of power. We can see such powerful female influences in a bright bodysuit and nothing else one day and dressed in a power suit the next. Hence why modest fashion is becoming such a macro trend. Layers on layers of luxury materials and even doubling up coats have been seen on numerous catwalks including Balenciaga. I’ve taken my own perception on modest fashion this season; over sized jumpers are my go to paired with knee high boots. Cute and understated yet elegant. Or a brightly coloured power suit that screams out girl boss.
ANIMAL PRINT:
I’ve really struggled with animal print previously however this year it’s made a serious come back. Whether it’s leopard print or snake it’s becoming an Autumn trend that’s been super hard to ignore. Animal print has been a trend that comes in and out faster than you can say Kat Slater, but this season it’s become a serious statement piece. I mean did any girl not buy the leopard print side split maxi skirt that was all over your Instagram feed this summer? I think not. Make sure you make your animal print a statement piece perhaps with a pair of simple flats. Yes this print is no longer deemed as ‘trashy’ but best not over do it in my opinion.
RUST:
I’ve always been a red girl. Red has been my go to Autumn/Winter colour most years and although nothing can completely revert my attention away from red, if there is one colour that has caught my eye this season it is Rust. Warm and Earthy, I don’t think you could get a more perfect Autumn staple colour. Rust was hugely popular in the 70’s so if you’re a vintage fashion lover you’re in luck. So get ready to get cosy in rust not to mention you’ll match your pumpkin spice latte, the leaves, pumpkins and everything else Autumn. Instagram photoshoot opportunity? I think so.
Happy Autumn
